About
Teacher:
Melanie Maz has been teaching piano and violin to students for over 20 years through her private studio and at schools and studios, including Berkshire Music School, Cambridge Public Schools, the New School of Music, Boston Collegiate Charter School, Hill House Boston, and Suzuki School of Music. She has performed violin with the Newton Symphony, Longwood Symphony, Serenata Chamber Musicians, the Brahms Society Orchestra, New England Philharmonic, and Boston Neo-politan Orchestra. In addition to being a musician, Melanie is also an established artist and sewist (you can see what she makes at www.maz-art.com and www.mazartwork.etsy.com).
Lessons/Students:
School age children and adults may enroll in lessons, once or twice a week.
Lesson Days/Times:
Lesson slots are available weekdays from noon-7pm (sorry, no weekend lessons). Please contact the studio about current availability.
Locations:
Melanie offers lessons at her studio near Nonotuck Park in Easthampton, MA (note: there is a friendly cat in residence, so if you're allergic, please opt for in home or online lessons). She also offer online lessons and travels to homes within Easthampton, provided they are easily accessible by foot, bike, or bus.
Instruments:
There is a piano at the studio, but students who wish to take violin lessons will need to rent or purchase (note: violins come in different sizes so it's important that children are fitted to the correct size). For in-home lessons, students need to have their own keyboard/piano or violin.
Books:
Melanie will recommend which books/material students should purchase. (If you are a continuing student we can work with your current books/sheet music).
Scheduling Lessons/Payment:
Lessons are scheduled and paid month to month (students pay for all lessons in the upcoming month by the last day of the prior month), but new students are welcome to enroll mid month. Visit the Policies page for more information regarding payment.
